In June 2025 three paintings by Madeline Green came up for sale at Tennant’s Auctioneers in North Yorkshire. Madeline Green’s painting rarely come up for sale, so three at once was quite exceptional.
The paintings were:
The Couple
At the Races
Study of a Lady
It transpired that these paintings were acquired by a family in Ealing who knew Madeline and the family. Research was able to establish that the “Study of a Lady” was a close friend of Madeline. Unfortunately, the young child in “At the Races is still” a mystery. Madeline and her sister Gladys are the models in “At the Races” and “The Couple”.
Exhibition extended until 1st November 2020 (Free Entry) Open Thursday-Sunday 12-4pm
We are very pleased to say that Gunnersbury Park and Museum have now reopened their doors to the public.
Gunnersbury Park Museum's intimate spring exhibition puts the spotlight back on local artist Madeline Green.
Raised in Ealing, Green won acclaim as a versatile artist of 2D media. This exhibition will showcase the wide range and styles of pieces Green produced during her lifetime, including uncompromising self-portraits, anatomical studies of animals, and dreamy renderings of early 20th-century parties, mimes and theatrical costume.
